Sometimes, almost a year goes by then you finally get around to doing the things you set out to do long ago.
That’s me at the moment — can anyone else relate?
The last 2 parts of PACIFIC DRIFT that I got to create with model Malia Murphey + Billabong Women’s got sent into the archives so I’m bringing them out for some fresh air!
This trip in particular was a quick island hop away to Hawai’i Island (commonly known as Big Island). Hope you enjoy a few 35mm snaps from our time there just before the volcanic eruptions …
October seems to hold a bit of magic in her pocket. Maybe it’s that dead wind that keeps the salty air lingering til sun down … I have fond memories of October sunsets and surfs.
All of these dreamy colors
— unspoken words of dependency
notes of smoke in the air
limitless potential as a new season approaches
— but conflicting dark undertones try to get in the way
I love this month.

My appreciation for vintage thingz has been passed along from my mum and dad who love thrifting on the regular. They collect Hawaiiana and other memorabilia and so I’ve spent a chunk of my childhood perusing thrift stores all over the place.
When my friend Shea Diaz decided to finally make the move from California to Hawai’i and open her quaint little storefront in the Old Waialua Sugar Mill, I was beyond thrilled for her new venture. Hawai’i needs more vintage. There’s so much treasure to be discovered! So much culture!
So if you love hand-picked goodies that’ll take you back in time and give you all the vintage feelz, you have to check out her store BUENOS DIAZ! Open Saturdays 10am-3pm … and stay on her IG as she often posts her gems to be sold directly: @buenosdiazvintage :)

Have you ever stumbled upon an image that captivates you — sucks you into that singular moment? Sometimes I feel like I could have been there in another life. It lets you escape your current situation but for a second … almost dreamlike, whisking you away into it for what feels like much longer. I hope to do this for people with my art some day . . .
Love this Hawaiian babe so much ... that face ... those eyelids ... and her sweet heart.
Such a gem.
2018 has had its fair share of fun times abroad, but my time in the Maldives with Turquoise Lane from West Australia definitely left a mark on my heart . . . If it's true that the Maldives may not be around forever, I suggest it make its way onto your bucket list because it truly is a magical place in this world.

Tahiti is always a hard 'yes'. Never, ever say no to Tahiti.
Being back in beautiful French Polynesia was special. The smells, the food, the creatures, the memories. They all come flooding back in the second you touch down.
Here are some special moments captured on 35mm. Hope you enjoy. X
